Information

Good to know

In spite of the temptation to show your new family member to everybody, the very best advice is that it should have nothing but peace and quiet in the first 24 hours. Try to encourage all family members to handle the new arrival quietly and gently, and particularly if your new friend is quite young, allow adequate periods of rest by itself. Remember young animals should have adequate vaccination protection before socialising – please speak to your friendly vet team regarding vaccination protocols for your puppy or kitten.

Our pet gives us unconditional love and loyalty and we want to give them the proper care they deserve. Unexpected illness or accidents can involve a financial burden. Pet health insurance can help contribute to unexpected and routine veterinary expenses by paying up to 80% of costs.

There are many companies that offer pet insurance, so you do need to do some research before choosing the cover that’s best for you and your pet. To reduce out-of-pocket expenses we offer GapOnly Claims at Padbury Vets letting you claim on the spot so you only need to pay the “gap”.

Microchipping is a permanent form of identification for your pet. Inserting a microchip is like a vaccination, it only takes a few seconds. The procedure is very safe and your pet will feel little pain. Once done, your pet’s details, and your contact address & phone numbers are entered on a national database.

Collars can fall off or be removed & details on pet tags can fade or become outdated. Inserting a microchip means your pet can be easily identified by a ranger, animal shelter or veterinarian regardless of the situation. Once identified, you can be contacted immediately and informed of the location of your pet.
